Tomorrow.......Tomorrow.......

is only a day away!

Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit! Seriously? Tomorrow is March 1st, and well, I don't think I will be running tomorrow. I skied yesterday and my legs hurt.....no really, it's going to rain/snow here. Now, don't go telling me I should run in the snow or rain, because I won't.

Instead, I'll do some yoga or even run in the house....well maybe not run unless it's after my kids, but Ill do something to get my heart rate up. Midweek is going to be sunny and great, so my plan is to start either Tuesday or Wednesday and proceed from there!

Don't worry ladies, I won't let you down!

Who else is starting this week???

What's on your iPod?

I'm getting ready to load my first "running" album onto my iPhone, and want to know what you like to listen to?

What's your favorite music to work out to?

ONE WEEK!

If next Monday is going to be as beautiful as today, then it will be a GREAT day to start my 90 day challenge! I have a lot to get accomplished between now and Monday! It felt like March 1st was so far away, and now it feels as though it snuck right up on me! I'm a little nervous!

1. Running shoes - I need to make my way to the Maine Running Company to get some running shoes that will be comfy cozy and a good fit!

2. Update my music on my iPhone

3. Buy a band to hold my iPhone since I use this as my iPod, too

4. Need to buy clothes to work out in - it's been so long that I don't think I have anything "appropriate" to wear while working out, not to mention in the winter/spring! What's the best type of clothing to wear while running? What's your favorite piece of clothing?

Can you think of anything else I may need? Is there anyone else who is starting with me next week? I am hoping the weather stays nice!

I thought it would be a great to sign up for my first 5K in order to help keep me motivated to achieve my goal of running for 90 days. I went onto Maine Track Club's website to see if there were any races that would work for me. Low and behold, there was! What a great Mother's Day gift to myself if I could actually finish a 5K!

You're going to run for 90 days???

NO! Way! Jose!

Kevin asked me if I was going to run every single day for 90 days tonight......seriously!? I am not that crazy! If I am not mistaken, the couch to 5K is just a few days a week. Very doable....so if you thought I was going to run for 90 days straight, you were wrong! I'm pretty sure I would die if I did that! Maybe one day straight, but surely not 90 :)

I can't do this with you, I hate to run...

...well, I would have to say you are not allowed to use that as an excuse!

You ask why? Why? Because I HATE TO RUN! I have never been a runner. I am not so sure I will be able to run to the end of my driveway without being winded. This experience should be interesting!

I like the running program I will be trying out because I am literally doing a couch to 5K! I am starting out from the very  beginning. So, why not try it out? It's just 90 days!

I still have nightmares about my soccer coach in high school making us run up and down hills for hours. It sucked. I had pains in my side. I wanted to cry. I promised myself I'd never be a runner. Well, here I am trying to challenge myself and others to try running...again.

I want something that will make me feel good about my body again! I want to have fun doing it!

We have a name! and some other business

Thanks to the gals over on my other blog (the Ferrie Girls), I have come up with a name for my running blog!

Melting the Muffin Top

Thanks, Jennifer for the great idea! I love it, and I hope it makes you laugh. I wanted a humorous name for my blog because let's be honest, this whole running this is pretty humorous! I also hope this blog is pretty humorous, too!

I posted over on facebook about starting a running blog, and I got a lot of comments from friends wanting to motivate or re-motivate themselves to start running (again). So, what are you waiting for??? Let's motivate together. I just downloaded an iPhone app called 'imapmyrun' - it's a great application that helps track your runs, and you can even see what your friends are doing. If you have an iPhone, go download that free application, and we can run together. Here is the website.

Another great website I stumbled upon yesterday called the Couch to 5K running plan - I am planning on following something just like this to get me started. Anyone want to start March 1 with me? Leave a comment below!

Anyways, if you're interested in joining me in my running challenge, please leave a comment below...

Preparing myself

My name is Steph, and I am a 31 year old mother of three young girls (3, 2 and 5 months). My husband Kevin is an officer in the Coast Guard, and we've been together for 6 years in September (married almost 5). Since being together with Kevin, I have not exercised like I used to...life just got busy, quick! Once we got married, we found out I was pregnant shortly after our honeymoon. Since September 2005, I have been pregnant and/or nursing without a break. I gave birth to our third daughter in September 2009. Needless to say, I've had little time to get back in shape.

Last year before I got pregnant with Clara, I promised myself I would start exercising the spring after she was born (2010). Here we are in the middle of February, and I have been mentally preparing myself for how I am going to go about getting myself back in shape. At our wedding, I weighed about 118lbs, and now, I weigh in at 130 pounds. I would love to get down to 120, and even 115 once I finish nursing Clara - which could be a while!

I have decided to learn to run. In high school, I played soccer. Since I was fast, I would play half back. I hated it. I had to run...a lot. Our coach used to make us run hills, and it was horrible. In college, I was on the waterski team. I lifted weights 4-5 times per week, waterskiied about 5-6 times and I rollerbladed 6-7 miles almost everyday. While I know I will not have the time to work out like I used to, I want to make time to exercise. Even though I have such horrible memories of running in high school, I am going to attempt to enjoy running.

I am going to run for 90 days and blog about my experience. I hope this blog will allow me to stay true to myself, and keep me motivated to journal about this. I am hoping my husband, Kevin, will run alongside me. It should be interesting. My goal is to start March 1st as long as the weather cooperates.

I just want to feel good about myself again! I also hope I can motivate others to run, too! So, come along and run with me!
