Preparation - Are you ready?

I am moving right along in this pregnancy, and each day, I become closer and closer to putting in a Jillian Michaels DVD to get started. At 29 weeks and my history of preterm labor and oligohydramnios (low fluid) I have to be cautious with my levels of exercise, and pay particularly close to how my body reacts.

I need to do something though. It's hard to believe we are just 9 days away from March 1st - my original start day of my 90 day challenge. To say I am pumped up to start up again is an understatement. I am determined to look good and feel comfortable in a two piece bathing suit this summer. My due date is May 9th (though all three of my babies have been 3-4 weeks early), and for me, getting ready for summer and getting my body back on track is a huge undertaking, especially with four children - all of whom will be exactly 5 years and under (My oldest will be five in May). It will definitely be a challenge, but I am ready for a challenge. A bigger one.

The way I felt last year after completing my challenge was unreal, and I cannot wait to start feeling that amazing again! Getting that taste of health, fitness and feeling good about myself is just making me want to exercise! It is the best addiction I have ever had.

So, on March 1st, I will start my challenge, while it will not be as intense or may not be as regular as it was when I began all of this one year ago, it will be a start, it will help lay the foundation for the real stuff to start post baby #4. I haven't come up with a "plan" yet, but my goals will be:

To excercise (walk - as weather permits, yoga, shred - very easy, and probably only level 1, cardio max, etc) at least 30 minutes, three times per week.

I am going to do some research on exercising while pregnant and see what I can find. I am not looking to lose weight or anything serious, I am just looking to lay a foundation for restarting a real exercise regime once the baby is born.

So, who's with me? Who wants to join my challenge with me again this year? You have two weeks to prepare!

Anyone have any resources on exercising while pregnant?

I will be looking into information regarding alternatives to any type of squats, abdominal exercises, and any particular yoga exercises that require you to lay on your belly.

A blog about what I use and don't use. (during my challenge, surely not now! ha!)

Day 60: Yep. I'm a slacker!

Day 60: Slacking

It's been 60 days since I decided to take the plunge into a healthier lifestyle. It's been 60 days since I started this 90 day challenge. I am two-thirds of the way through this challenge. It's amazing what 60 days can do to a person. The last few weeks, I have really started to see a change in my body. My pants are fitting so much better, more comfortably. I am not quite as self conscious in clothes as I was before I started this. I am actually starting to see some definition in my arms and legs. I love it, I am starting to feel like I have my body back....a tiny piece of my body back. I'll take tiny.

This past week has been tough. The weather has not cooperated for running - Yes, I suppose I could run in the rain, but I'm not that dedicated yet. We are also in the midst of renovating our bathroom. On Tuesday, I was on the floor for about 3-4 hours tiling, and today, my lower back is killing me. Yesterday, I painted the bathroom. Today...well, I felt as though I needed a mental health day. I had every intention of running, but there was what seemed to be hurricane force winds outside....okay, maybe not that bad, but really bad winds, stronger than I ever want to run in. So, I just relaxed......and ate a half pan of rice krispies treats. Oh boy did they taste good!

I am looking forward to what the next 30 days has in store for me. I am really ready to step it up a notch in my work outs.

What's on your iPod?

I'm getting ready to load my first "running" album onto my iPhone, and want to know what you like to listen to?

What's your favorite music to work out to?

ONE WEEK!

If next Monday is going to be as beautiful as today, then it will be a GREAT day to start my 90 day challenge! I have a lot to get accomplished between now and Monday! It felt like March 1st was so far away, and now it feels as though it snuck right up on me! I'm a little nervous!

1. Running shoes - I need to make my way to the Maine Running Company to get some running shoes that will be comfy cozy and a good fit!

2. Update my music on my iPhone

3. Buy a band to hold my iPhone since I use this as my iPod, too

4. Need to buy clothes to work out in - it's been so long that I don't think I have anything "appropriate" to wear while working out, not to mention in the winter/spring! What's the best type of clothing to wear while running? What's your favorite piece of clothing?

Can you think of anything else I may need? Is there anyone else who is starting with me next week? I am hoping the weather stays nice!
