Day 13 - Shredded...literally.

Day 13: 30 Day Shred with Jillian Michaels, Level 1

Today I did my third "day" of the level 1 shred with Jillian Michaels. Since we are at Kevin's parents and they had hand weights, I decided to use 3lb weights along with it. The last two times I did this, I didn't use anything, and today it was time.

My arms were burning. OMG. It's amazing to think back in college I used to do the same exercises with 10-15 pound hand weights! I felt so wimpy! Oh well, gotta start from the beginning I guess...

I definitely felt progress in doing push-ups where I could barely do them when I started this program, and now, it didn't quite so bad! I really pushed the abs work out, because lets be honest, my abs are.....ummmmmm.....absent right now. My "beer" gut needs some serious work, and I am going to have to do a 90 day abs challenge just to get those in order.

So today, I felt progress in my endurance and strength. It felt better not to feel so weak, and I can't wait for what's to come.

Tomorrow starts week 3 of the Couch to 5K

Day 12 - Treadmills suck.

Day 12: Week 2 of the Couch to 5K

Ran inside on treadmill because of heavy rain outside :(

Duration: 25:54
Distance: 2.05 miles
Pace: 12:38 mins/mile
(I ran between 6-7mph and walked between 3-4mph)

Today I had to run on the treadmill inside because there was heavy rain forecast for the entire day. I hadn't run on a treadmill in a long, long, long, long time. I hated it then, and I hate it now. It is sooooo boring and incredibly difficult, at least for me. There isn't anything worse than looking at a wall, or even a TV. It just does absolutely nothing for me, but I did it. I hate having to enter a pace, it's so forced, and unnatural

Anyways, enough about my hatred for treadmills! Overall, I think I did decent. I didn't have any side stitches again. It was fun having the girls come in and out of the room watching me run!

Day 11 - Dare I say it?

Dare I say the run this morning actually felt good?

Day 11 - Week 2 of the Couch to 5K

Weather: Cloudy, 70 degrees with a very strong cross wind

Duration: 23:12
Distance: 1.98 miles
Pace: 11:41 mins/mile

Today was the first day I ran since Monday, and it actually felt good. I did week 2 of the couch to 5K, which entails 90 seconds of running followed by 120 seconds of walking. Since I had managed to screw up Monday, I knew I didn't need 2 minutes of walking after a 90 second jog. So, I did 90 seconds of jogging followed by a 90 second walk. I ran in the morning before I ate anything, and sure enough, I had no side stitches. This would make the second time in a row where I didn't have side stitches, and I didn't eat anything before I ran. I think I solved my problem.

Running when it is warm out felt great. It's amazing how much better it feels when your throat isn't burning from the cold winds!

Todays run did not hurt as much as I had anticipated! I actually feel good!

Day 10 - Slacker

Yeah, I guess you could call me a slacker! Today I had every intention of running, but, there wasn't enough time in the day. Well, I guess you could say I didn't make time, because everyone has time, right?

We got up this morning and had a leisurely breakfast. One may say I should have run before breakfast....but, I didn't. Then, we got ready to head to Sea World for the day!

Sea World entails a lot of walking! I wish I had a pedometer, but I am guessing I may have walked 3 miles? Many steps with a 13+ baby in tow, or pushing a double stroller. Does this count? I know, I guess I am trying to make excuses for myself.

When we got home, it was 6pm. I had a crabby baby and two hungry children. Oh yeah, and two kids and a mommy who wanted a dip in the hot tub with a glass of wine. Yeah, the story is going to the shitter. Am I digging myself into a trench or what???

I guess this means I am going to have to kick my own ass for the next 4 days to catch up for what I didn't do yesterday or today!

Tomorrow, watch out!

Day 9 - Day off

Today I am taking my first day off since starting my 90 day challenge. I didn't just sit on my arss though...we traveled down to Florida to spend the week with Kevin's parents.

Don't fret - I will be keeping up with my challenge here in the Sunshine state!

Day 8 - I am an idiot!

Week 2 of the Couch to 5K

Weather: Sunny 55 and slight winds

Duration: 24:28
Distance: 1.92 miles
Pace: 12:45 mins/mile

I can't believe I survived the first week of running and am back for more. I know it is only going to get harder, but I think I'm on the right track...for now. Today, I set out to start week 2 of the couch to 5K. I was running for 90 seconds and taking 30 second breaks. It was KILLING me...I wanted to die. By halfway, I was sucking wind and wanted to quit, but I kept going. I kept wondering if I was doing something wrong! I was struggling so much more than I was last week.

Since I was struggling so much to keep going, I came home and went right to the couch to 5K website to see if I messed up somehow....and what do you know! I did. Maybe I should have read the website before I left to see what I was REALLY supposed to do this week!

For week 2: Brisk five-minute warmup walk. Then alternate 90 seconds of jogging and two minutes of walking for a total of 20 minutes.

Yeah! No wonder why I sucked so bad! I have no idea where I got that idea of walking for 30 seconds and running for 90! That 30 second break was soooooooo not long enough! What a dumb ass I am!

Tomorrow, we will be traveling to Florida, so I will be giving my body a much needed break. I have exercised for 8 days straight, and I feel really good! I will be continuing my challenge there!

Hope everyone is doing well!
